The Essendon Football Club Academy (EFCA) concluded its outstanding inaugural year with a celebratory graduation evening at the Hangar on Monday, 8 September. The event was a fitting finale for the 2025 cohort, where Essendon CEO Craig Vozzo delivered an inspiring address to the graduates, acknowledging their commitment and growth throughout the program.

This year, 23 Year 12 students and 16 Year 11 students successfully completed the EFCA course, which offered a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the elite football environment while gaining a comprehensive understanding of how the Essendon Football Club operates across its departments. The curriculum, uniquely designed for St Bernard’s College, encouraged students to explore a wide range of career pathways through topics such as coaching, management, mental wellbeing, and the business of football.

Throughout the year, students participated in enriching experiences, including match day involvement at the MCG, training sessions at the Hangar, and practical recovery workshops at Foundry Athletic. They also engaged with club staff and guest speakers, received insights into post-Year 12 pathways through the Essendon Education Academy, and contributed to school and community football events through coaching and officiating roles.

The EFCA program has empowered students to extend their learning beyond the classroom, offering real-world exposure and professional development through its partnership with the Essendon Football Club. The graduation evening not only celebrated their achievements but also marked the beginning of exciting new journeys for each participant.
