Extra Curricular
Immersions and
Study Tour Experiences
One of our flagship programs is the annual On Country Daly River immersion, open to Year 10 and 11 students. This program provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about the culture and traditions of the local Indigenous community and to engage in hands-on learning experiences, such as fishing, hunting, and traditional arts and crafts.
In addition to the On Country Daly River immersion, we offer study tours to Italy and Japan, alternating each year for students studying Italian or Japanese in Years 9-12.
These tours provide an immersive experience in the language, culture, and history of these countries, allowing students to deepen their linguistic skills and cultural understanding.
Starting in 2024, the College has introduced a European History Tour, open to students in Years 9-11.
This 19-day journey takes students through Turkey, Belgium, France, and Spain, offering a unique chance to explore significant historical sites and experience the diverse cultures of these nations, enriching their knowledge of European history.
Over two weeks, students engage in meaningful service learning—supporting English classes, assisting classroom activities, and contributing to community projects—while immersing themselves in Latin American culture through visits to iconic sites such as La Boca, Teatro Colón and Don Silvano ranch. Grounded in the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice, the experience fosters compassion, justice and hospitality through lived encounter.
Students return with a deeper understanding of the barriers young people face in diverse contexts, alongside practical skills in intercultural engagement and servant leadership. This immersion strengthens our global Edmund Rice network and nurtures resilient, reflective graduates who carry their insights into the life and mission of St Bernard’s College—embracing global citizenship with a renewed commitment to advocacy and justice.
