Students Recognised in the Parliament Prize 

With St. Bernard’s College Alumni Ben Carroll’s recent appointment to Premier of Victoria, there has never been a better time to study Civics and Citizenship or Politics at St. Bernard’s College. Another recent example of this is the success of SBC students in the Parliament Prize 2026.

We are proud to celebrate Stefan from Year 8, who has placed 2nd in this year’s Parliament Prize.

The Parliament Prize is an annual competition for Victorian school students. Students are invited to consider what they would say in Parliament if they were an MP and submit a 90-second video of their own Member Statement.

This year’s competition saw 1180 entries from over 180 schools. The judging panel included three members of parliament, Emma Vulin, Anasina Gray-Barberio and David Hodgett, as well as members of parliament’s education advisory panel and parliament staff.

Stefan’s parliamentary address will now be played to the Victorian Parliament, the school has been gifted a civic and citizenship classroom resource pack, and Stefan has won a $250 prize. Stefan will be presented with his prizes in a special ceremony at Parliament House on a date to be advised.

A special mention and congratulations to Will, Zachary, Charles, Xavier and Levi, who were awarded Highly Commended certificates in recognition of their excellent efforts. Students who receive a Finalist certificate ranked in the top 12 and students who receive a Highly Commended certificate ranked in the top 6% of entries for their category.
