Getting Wild - Staff Kenya Immersion Part 3

As part of their recent Kenya immersion journey, our staff also had the opportunity to experience some of Kenya's incredible wildlife, conservation initiatives and rich cultural traditions.

At the Giraffe Centre, our staff came face-to-face with the world's tallest mammals while learning about the vital work being done to conserve Kenya's wildlife and educate future generations about the importance of protecting the environment.

The journey also took us into a Maasai village, where we were welcomed into the community and given an insight into the traditions and customs that have been passed down through generations. We visited a traditional Maasai home, were welcomed with song, joined in their vibrant dances and even tested our jumping skills alongside the Maasai warriors. It was a fascinating opportunity to experience a culture that continues to preserve its rich heritage while sharing it with visitors from around the world.

Students in 2027 will also be to visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, home to one of the world's most successful elephant conservation programs. The orphanage rescues, rehabilitates and eventually rewilds orphaned baby elephants back into Tsavo National Park, giving these remarkable animals a second chance at life while protecting Kenya's natural heritage.

These experiences reminded us that immersion is about so much more than travel. It is about listening, learning, building connections and gaining a deeper understanding of the people, wildlife and culture that make Kenya so extraordinary.

We can't wait to give our students the opportunity to experience these moments for themselves during the 2027 Kenya Immersion, returning home with new perspectives, lifelong memories and a deeper appreciation for this remarkable country.
