Careers Night - Exploring Pathways in the Housing Sector

Students and families joined us to hear from St Bernard’s alumnus Dan McKenna and industry leader Niv Fernando, who shared their valuable perspectives on career pathways into the social and affordable housing sector. 

As CEO of Housing All Australians, Dan’s career has seen him rub shoulders with everyone from the Premier of Victoria to the host of Grand Designs, but he was once in the same shoes as our students, and like many of them, he was wondering where to start with his career. Dan’s story gave our students a real example of what can happen when you work hard and stay open to new opportunities. 

As Senior Associate of the Australasian Housing Institute Victoria, Niv shared examples of the purposeful work being done in the community housing sector. Her passion for the work was evident as she spoke of the abundant pathways for students. 

The event concluded with a Q&A where Dan and Niv responded to insightful questions from our students and their families.
